Artist Statement
The Soul's Journey-Asia Series

Increasing the happiness of the individual through spiritual resonance is of prime importance to me. Passionate about art from childhood, I am now realizing my dream of a major solo exhibition in Queensland.

The paintings have been both a personal and spiritual journey as I first respond to the subject in an emotive, subconscious, and playful manner. The Great Wall of China, the Temples of Angkor Wat, Tibetan Monasteries, all appear magically on the canvas in response to 'pictures' I see and feel in the first wash.

The impressions of Asia I found the most captivating were the spiritual values and the antiquities within the bustling modernizations. These 'still points', many now being demolished, seemed to have a need to be expressed in visual form.

The materials collaged were discovered during my explorations, the delightful collection of papers and artefacts collected adding to my visions. Thus the final products are totally unique, these materials providing greater depth to these original works on paper, print or canvas. The artwork becomes a physical journey in paint and media, changing and evolving as the painting completes its cycle.

Next comes a logical, thinking phase to balance and create a well designed composition.

Finally the viewer interacts with the work to interpret his or her own journey. For the viewer I am aiming for an instant of connection, a moment where they are lost in the moment, a magical, imaginative creative journey as they view my work. For those that linger I have provided a richness of further discovery.
